GEOCACHING

ADVENTURES !

We LOVE this activity….we choose hiking trails based on the number of geocaches !!!

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) device, mobile cell device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.

A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and sometimes a pen or pencil. The geocacher signs the log with their established code name and dates it, in order to prove that they found the cache. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers (Tupperware or similar) or ammunition boxes can also contain items for trading, such as toys or trinkets (called swag). These items are normally of nominal value.

As of June 2023, we have found 2,315 caches in 29 different States and 4 Countries.

Geo-Art is where caches are placed to create a special shape. We have completed several Geo-Arts. We typically complete these in a single day and sometimes they are really LONG days !!!

We are hoping to monetize our YouTube channel. This requires a minimum of 1,000 subscribers…If you like our content, please subscribe on YouTube.

McDowell Mountain Park is located about 30 minutes outside of Phoenix, Arizona. It is a large county park with hiking trails and a campground. There are several large geocache power trails in the park and we cached a few of them.

This is a really short video reflecting 3 geocaches we found on a cool rainy winter day in a park in West Virginia.

We go Geocaching beside a mountain stream and waterfall just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Boone, North Carolina.

This video shows our Halloween Weekend Geocaching Trip. We found 35 geocached, 3TB's and only had 2DNF's.

We travelled to Breckenridge, Colorado in June 2020 for a Mountain getaway. This video is our hike in the Peaks Trail at the Top of Peak 8.

We set out to find a hiding spot for out Geocache figure. Tim was being adventurous and as a result - we didn't make it very far! Wait for it at the end !!!

I attended the MAGPI (Mountaineer Area Geocaching Persons of Interest) Event today. It was a great time seeing old friends, having good food, and playing games. Geocachers are from all walks of life and are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people that you will ever meet.

We just traveled to Washington DC for a Grace Potter concert at the Anthem venue in the Wharf District of DC. On the drive over, we stopped by Hancock, Maryland for some quick geocaching in the rain!

We had a quick weekend trip to the mountains of West Virginia. Thomas and Davis are really cool, laid back mountain towns near the ski resorts. We travelled there to see two bands play in a very unique local bar called The Purple Fiddle.

RJOURNEY this weekend took us to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a quick stay to catch a Magic Show starring Derek Hughes - FANTASTIC!!! Derek Hughes was a Top 10 Finalist on America's Got Talent....See him if you have a chance. The next morning, we did some urban Geocaching before heading back home.

What did you do on the FIRST day of the Year? We went hiking and GEOCACHING! If you don't know what it is...watch this video and find out !
